For Youth Leaders

We are partnering with churches, seminaries, colleges, and para-church ministries to equip high school leaders, middle school leaders, college leaders, pastors, educators, and parents to help their students prepare for healthy marriages. Our workshop is built on key biblical principles and supported by the best modern research on marriage and healthy relationships. In addition, we look at how these principles apply to relevant case studies and give you practical tools and engaging activities to help you adapt the material to your specific group.

Session 1- The Vision

In this session, we will take a bird’s eye view of young people’s attitude toward marriage. We will look at many of the harmful messages in our culture young people hear about love and romance. Then we will see how the church is ideally positioned to help them prepare for a fulfilling marriage.

Session 2- How to Date With Your Heart and Your Head

This session begins with an effective strategy for introducing young people to an exciting vision for their future marriage. We will look at the importance of working closely with parents and helping students establish a strong support system before they start dating. We will also learn a practical tool designed to help them use their hearts and heads when they pursue a romantic relationship and avoid dating jerks.

Session 3- What Do You Want?

After this session, you will be equipped to show your students how gender differences impact the way they communicate. We will take a look at the messages they receive from their families, how these messages influence their approach to communication, and how they can bring their family’s strengths to their future marriage while leaving the weaknesses behind. In addition, we will learn simple but powerful methods for talking and listening more effectively.

Session 4- What is Love?

In this session, we will develop a biblically sound definition of love and use it to build our strategy for preparing young people for marriage. Scripture makes it clear that, “love keeps no records of wrong,” so we will finish by exploring the importance of forgiveness in relationships and how we can facilitate this critical practice in our ministries.

Session 5- Sex and Your Future “How Far is Too Far”

During this session, we will look at the cultural influences pulling young people toward premarital sex. We will explore how saving sex for the honeymoon is a vital aspect of preparing for a healthy marriage. We will also brainstorm ways to aid parents in helping their children make wise decisions. We will talk about physical, relational, and spiritual reasons why young people should wait and end with a fun activity that carries a sobering message about the dangers of premarital sex.
